Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you see?

I am a general adult psychiatrist who is generally able to see people between the ages of 16-65. I value inclusivity in my practice and welcome individuals from all cultural, ethnic, religious backgrounds, sexuality or gender expression.

What should I expect from the first session?

The initial consultation is a comprehensive 50 minute session where we discuss your history, current concerns, and goals. It is a collaborative space to develop a tailored treatment plan in a supportive environment.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

Yes, a valid referral letter from your GP is required to access Medicare rebates. This also ensures cohesive care between your primary physician and your psychiatrist.

Are you currently accepting new referrals?

Yes I am currently accepting referrals for new patients.

What are the fees for psychiatric services?

Fees vary depending on the length and type of session. Full transparency regarding current costs and Medicare rebates will be provided during your initial enquiry.

The Medicare Safety Net can make psychiatric appointments more affordable for many people after they reach the relevant out-of-pocket threshold for the calendar year. This threshold is often reached after several specialist appointments, after which Medicare rebates may increase significantly. More information can be found here and here.

Do you see people for ADHD or Autism assessments?

I believe that all good treatment first begins with a general and comprehensive assessment with an open mind. If a diagnosis of ADHD is identified, I am able to explore treatment options with you.

I do not currently offer stand-alone autism diagnostic assessments. I do, however, welcome neurodiverse patients seeking broader psychiatric assessment, treatment planning, or ongoing care.

Please be aware that my usual consulting room is currently on the third floor and is accessible by stairs only. If you have mobility needs that might make attending difficult, please let me know when enquiring so we can discuss whether an alternative arrangement is possible.
